Chapter 3.

Here comes the bride

My sister wanted me to be the dragon behind the priest so I said I would. In our kingdom every wedding would have a dragon in the background.
I matched the wedding colors perfectly even though I still had a hole in my wing from night before. Linnet didn’t want to have the wedding because of the kings death but I knew that we needed a new ruler and Linnet was the heir so once she got married she would become queen.
The bride walked in her dress flowing as she walked. As she approached the altar her eyes filled with tears. She stepped up, the bride and groom held hands. I flew in. The crowd watched as I landed on the pedestal and flared my wings.
Looking over the crowd, I saw the man that I loved. He was watching me. For a second our eyes met. My eyes softened to a gentle look. He smiled and then I focused on my sister. The next thing I know they kissed. I went flying around the room and back to my pedestal and lit the candle as I was told.
The reception was amazing. The man that I wanted to marry bowed.
My mother the queen Kiara walked onto the stage. She gave a speech about how love is important, and it doesn’t matter who a person is as long as you love them.
My mother called the man I danced with up to the stage and told everyone that he was actually the heir1 of a neighboring kingdom.
After the speech my mother pulled the man away and talked to him. The next thing I knew I was on the stage looking down at the man on his knee asking me to marry him. Well of course I said…
“Yes. Of course I will marry you!”
“We shall rule the kingdom together with fairness and grace,” he explained.
