Chapter 3.

Nia

“Are you going to try going today, Kofi?” Latricia asks Kofi.

        “Yes.” Kofi groans.

“Who are you, and where is my son?” Latricia says happily. “I’m proud of you baby.”

        “Thanks mom.”

“No problem.” Latricia looks towards Nia. “Make sure your big brother goes to school.” She whispers. Nia nods and runs into the bathroom to do her hair.

“It’s not that big of a deal mom.” Kofi says tiredly.

“I guess it isn’t. You haven’t been in school for two weeks. How bad could that be?” Latricia says sarcastically. “I know you were sick the first week, but you were playing your ‘Xbox One’ the next week.”

“I miss my parents, my real parents.” Kofi cries. Latricia puts her arm around Kofi.

“It’s okay, Kofi. Me and Omarr love you.”

“Do I have to go to school?” Kofi asks annoyed.

“Yes, you do.” Latricia says rolling her eyes.

“Ugh, fine.” Kofi runs towards the bathroom door and knocks on the door. “Open up Nia. Your hair isn’t as important as my hygiene.”

“Okay, okay! Hold on!” Nia unlocks the door. “Come in.”

Kofi opens the door and grabs his toothbrush from the counter and starts brushing his teeth. Nia hurries out the bathroom and calls her boyfriend Taj. She asks for a ride to school and gets dressed. Then she meets Taj outside and leaves for school. Kofi chases after them and tries to get a ride too.
