Voldemort and the Stolen Recipe
Chapter 3.
Slippery Severus

Slippery Severus

The first house they went to was Snape's. Voldemort had ruled out Bellatrix and Barty Crouch Jr. right away because they were too devoted to him to ever touch his house with asking.
Voldy and Wormy apparated right onto the greasy professor's doorstep. It was a good way to avoid being soaked in the storm, but Voldemort managed to get soaked anyways when he lost his balance and fell in a large puddle on the sidewalk.
Wormtail couldn't suppress a chuckle as he helped the Dark Lord get up.
"I'm sure you'll dry off quickly in front of Snape's fireplace," Wormtail assured him.
Snape answered the doorbell after they had rung it twice. His grumpy expression became a more respectful frown at the sight of Voldemort.
"Hello there, Severus," said Voldemort, trying to remain dignified despite his muddy robes.
"Come in," Snape stepped aside to let them pass, holding the door open. "What brings you to my humble abode?"
Voldemort sat himself by the fire and waited until Snape had brought tea before explaining. He sent Wormtail to search the house while he talked, too, so the slippery fellow wouldn't have time to hide the book if he had taken it.
"Wormtail's favorite cookbook has been stolen," Voldy told him. "It contains a fabulous chocolate chip muffin recipe that we need for my regeneration birthday."
"I'm afraid I have no knowledge of its whereabouts," Snape said. "Unless it had been planted in my house without my knowing, your cookbook isn't here, nor did I have a hand in taking it."
Voldemort knew he told the truth. "Do you have any ideas of who the thief may be?"
Snape sipped his tea thoughtfully. "It's hard to say. Would it help your search to call a Death Eater meeting at Malfoy Manor?"
Another idea from someone other than himself. What was the world coming to?
"Good idea," Voldy nodded. He did some magic and rose from the armchair with mostly dry robes. The wizard quickly finished his tea before calling Wormtail.
"We will meet tomorrow," Voldemort told Snape. Then he and Wormtail left with a swish of their robes and Apparated back to Voldy's house.
