A Different Kind of Fairytale
Chapter 2.
Arrival

Arrival

"Rose, Wake Up!" Mom yelled from the kitchen where smells of bacon and eggs were coming from, "Get up and do your chores before heading into town to the shop."
"I'm awake Mom. Why can't you go to the shop today," I asked peeking into the kitchen after getting dressed. I grabbed a piece of bacon before heading out into the garden.
"None of your business," she shouted at my back. I walked far enough so I would be out of her view before I took of the simple flats Mom insisted I wear. I hated them they pinched my toes and prevented me from feeling the soft grass. I ran as fast as I could to the small glen where all the best plants grew. I needed to get some sage, thyme, and rose petals for the shop. When I had gathered enough I ran back to the cottage and I slipped the shoes back on. Mom was waiting with a basket that had some bread, cheese, and some bacon. She handed my some damp cloth to wrap my herbs in and I put on my cloak. I saddled Breanna which means strong and headed into town.  I opened the shop and began to fill orders and wait for walk-ins. The door opened and I was in the back filling orders ," I will be with you in a second," I yelled through the doorway.
"I am sure you can make an exception," a familiar voice shouted back, " and shouting isn't very lady like."
"Brayden is that you?" I ran out of the back and swept him in a hug. He pulled my chin up and gave me a kiss before putting me back down on the ground.
"Well, I couldn't let your mother think that I was a good for nothing who makes a promise and backs out on it could I," he said making a silly face and shifting to try to see into the back.
"She isn't here Brayden," I said and began to walk back behind the counter.
"Call me Aidan, Alex," he said.
"I will when you do," I said back. Then a very large soldier entered the shop and Brayden shifted into a position covering me.
"How can I help sir?" I asked with a curtsy while i pushed Brayden over so he wasn't blocking the customer.
"I need something for pain. One of my soldiers ate something he should've and is now sick." he said his voice low and calm filled up the room. I could see Brayden tense up realizing he was a Captain.
"Well I need to see him then he could be poisoned or dying," I said gathering up some supplies. He hesitated but nodded before stepping out of the shop to wait for me.
"Let me come with you. I don't trust that guy," Brayden said jerking his head toward him.
"It is my job Brayden. I have to go help someone," I pushed past him and out of the shop were he was waiting with Breanna and his horse.
"I am Cael," he said offering his hand so I could mount. I shook my head and pulled my cloak up. I mounted Breanna and turned in the direction of the war camp in Pine tree forest.
"Alex but everyone calls me Rose," I said and spurred Breanna into action galloping into the trees
