History

  Sonic the hedgehog Japanese: (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ) is a video game franchise published by Sega. The franchise is a speed based platformer.
The creators are named , Yuji Naka, Naoto Ochshima, and Hirokazu Yashuhara. Another artist named Akira Watanabe has also been involved in Sonic's creation.
There are also spinoffs such as Racing, fighting, party, sports , adventure, and puzzles.
Many games where cancelled along the way due to time management, unknown reasons or changed titles such as Sonic crackers which was named after the game's release, Knuckles and the Chaotixs.
When they released the first sonic the hedgehog game the team didn't know how Americans would reaspond to the new game. First they tried to add a female character to be sonics girlfriend for sonic to rescue , like Mario saving princess peach,  but scaped it. They also wanted sonic to join a band with other animals , like a alligator, bunny, chicken, and monkey. This concept was turned into a animated cartoon named Sonic underground which his brother and his sister have to use their instruments to save the day.
They tired one more thing was to add fangs for sonic but they deicide to leave it as it is for the Americans.
Sonic wasn't always a hedgehog he was actually a white rabbits with different moves then sonic.
The white rabbit's  appearance had white shoes , red bow, and eyes that looked like old Mickey mouse eyes.
This concept was added to a sonic character named Cream the rabbit. The villan named eggman would have been the good guy , his appearance is pajama top and bottom, night cap, slippers, holding a pillow and bear.
The sonic franchise also has comics in 1991 and is still making comics to this day.
