Chapter 3; Technology

"I don't think it's supposed to do that."
"It isn't. It's not meant for interactions. It's meant for destruction of other robots."
"Defective. Eliminate it."

Kiri and Lori were passing through the crowded streets of Purgatory, glancing left and right for anyone that could be a possible recruit.
"So..You've been here for a while, right?" Lori spoke up, breaking the awkward silence like punching a mirror.
"Yeah. I died 25 years ago and haven't rusted a bit. Unlike something I like to kick around." Kiri shrugged.
"What is said something? Tell me, I'm really curious." The EI unit's holographic eye blinked slowly. She sighed.
"Fine. Coome on." The girl was then grabbed by the wrist. 'Surprisingly good grip for someone who tiny sticks for fingers,' Lori thought. Kiri started dragging her along, eventually turning into one of the alleys. The pink glow from her iris lit up the place well.
"Come back to beat me a little more, EYE?" A male voice, completely robotic, roared from the corner. Kiri visibly flinched, eye widening again.
"Oh no. Ooh no no no no, you're not supposed to be awake!"
"Not supposed to be awake--Kiri, What's going on here?" Lori slowly looked at her. The robot in the corner stood up, walking towards them. He stepped into the glow of Kiri's iris. What was revealed was a tall figure covered in shallow dents, rust dotting nearly every spot of him. Two spikes that resembled flattened ears jutted from his head. His eyes were a pale blue with purple ellipses that resembled pupils. A large, shattered glass circle was in the middle of his chest. If it wasn't for the rust, he'd be a beautiful silver piece of machinery.
"See what SHE'S done to me? Why are you with this freak?"
"Um, I'M the freak? I'm not the cat-lookin rustbucket!"
"I'm not the floating eye!"
"Enough!" Lori stepped between them, shoving them apart. "What's your name?"
"Well, since you were SO POLITE TO ASK," He said in a prideful tone, placing a clawed hand on his chest, "I am Deido."
"Pfft. Deido? Sounds like a character on a baby show," Kiri jeered. Deido growled.
"Oh, you wanna call me CHILDISH, huh? Eat this, eyeball!" A blue fireball burst into reality in the palm of his hand. He thrust it forward, sending it catapulting towards Kiri.
"WOOAH--" She put her hands in front of her, rods darting away from her stubs. They formed the shape of a large square. It flashed green as the fireball crashed into what was an invisible forcefield created by the fingers. They floated back to her hands. If she had a mouth, she'd be grinning smugly.
"That all you got, BOT?"
"Nope." Deido dropped to all fours, now looking like a small cat about to pounce. He leapt onto a wall, clinging to it with his claws. He charged across it and jumped down onto an unsuspecting Kiri.
"GET OFF OF ME, YOU LITTLE--"
"SAY IT! SAY I'M NOT CHILDISH!"
"You're BOTH BEING CHILDISH!" Lori shot, causing the fighting duo to stop in their tracks like a gun went off. "Listen, Deido. With that climbing ability and pyromancy, you could be a great help to our mission. We're going to sla--"
"Slay Lord Dimrock? Yeah! The Gateskeeper gave me that, too. If you're asking me to come along, I'd be happy to. Just keep the eye away from me."
"Oh trust me, scrap metal. I'll keep my distance."
"Alright, then," Lori sighed.
"Let's go."
