Cultural Appropriation
Okay, first of all. This subject is bullsh*t. Cultural Appropriation is a ridiculous title given to others indulging in another's culture by people who wish to segregate the races. Second, you are not appropriating culture if you wear dreadlocks, curly hair, nappy hair, frizzy hair, cornrows, etc. Black people are not the only ones who have discovered these techniques. Third, doing henna is also not cultural appropriation, as it is generally not a religious thing, it being used as an ornament for adorning feet and hands.By participating in their culture they're enriching themselves, they're proving they care enough to have henna done or to get dreadlocks or curly hair. Sometimes it just means they like the aesthetic, and is that the worst thing ever? Like, seriously? You're going to blame someone for liking the way a culture has expressed itself? Also, if you're part of that culture and you decide that you don't like it, why? What makes it so bad that some white person wears dreads when they've been wearing them the same amount of time. Most people are against it when it's WHITE PEOPLE doing it which is in itself racist. White people are told that they cannot participate in cultures because of what their ancestors did. This is exceedingly bigoted and rather ignorant. Should we blame all germans for what their predecessors did? No, so why does this apply?
