Chapter 15.

Say Things You Don't Mean

Since that morning after that cube game, Lotil has been concentrating more on her battling style to forget about the whole thing Hickory left earlier for some important business she had Toffee reading a book underneath the Willow tree. The hybrid wasn't bothered by her boyfriend's presence she continously waved her spear around swiftly hitting the side of the hill leaving a few marks in it's hardened soil. Toffee looked up from his book to watch her work out smiled a bit and returned his eyes to pages in front of him which read about the uses and abilities of Mewman magic, Lotil stopped her exercise to get a quick drink turning her gaze over to Toffee had she noticed the book he was reading titled: 'History of Mewni' a loud gaggy gulp almost pursued from her mouth preventing a spit take gave a unfriendly glare at it.
The lizard felt her sour gaze and looked up at her. "Is there something wrong Lotil?" He asked her. Lotil simply huffed looking away "It's nothing" she responded, her ears twitched.
Toffee didn't believe her "Are you sure about that darling?" He set his book down and stood up coming up to the hybrid alarming her once he came snout to snout "It seems there is something wrong."
Lotil tensed blushing ferociously backed away "I-I... I'm certain it's nothing! Nothing at all!" She claimed but her ears said otherwise.
Toffee seemed to smile at her "Tilly, please tell me I won't be mad" he tried convincing the hybrid. Lotil crossed her arms and sighed in defeat.
"Okay..." She spoke "It's just I saw you reading that book on Mewman Magic and it bothers me that your still looking into all those freaky spells. It worries me Toffee! I'm just so afraid that-" Lotil paused grabbing his right boned arm opening his palm to reveal the green wand shard "-That this thing is corrupting you, that the more you use this magic the more it'll change you and I don't want that too happen!" Toffee looked at the hybrid than his wand hand his face unreadable, tugged his hand from Lotil's.
"I just don't want you to over do it with the magic Toffee, that wand shard is too powerful. I'm not saying I don't believe you can handle it I know you can very well. I just want you too try limiting yourself or something..." Lotil trailed off going quiet.

Toffee stared immensely at the wand that sat in his boned palm thinking over what Lotil had said feeling a little rage he glared at her "Lotil, I know more about this magic than you or any other monster. For years I've studied it and learned the ways of their box well, now that I finally have the ability of such power in my claws I can use it for my plans" he clutched his hand into fist.
Lotil seemed to protest "Even if you studied about such power for years it still doesn't mean that it lacks it's dangers. You're right I don't know much about magic but I know it's a strong, powerful, and dangerous force that can only be wielded by creatures who are worthy of it's unstable ability" Toffee growled at her alarming the hybrid.
"Are you saying I'm unable to substain myself and this magic?" He asked teeth bared looking Lotil down with his fiery filled eyes.
"No! Toffee calm down please!"
"Calm down? Why should I calm down when your just explaining to me how I'm apparently unworthy to have this magic in my hands, you think I can't handle it's power?" He stepped closer to Lotil "You thought wrong you low life of freak!"
The hybrid shook at his words stared at him than clutched her fist in rage "Are you calling me a freak!? Who do you think you are! I mean have you not seen yourself, look at your corn flipping right arm lizard boy take a long gosh darn look!
You lost practically all the skin and muscle that once covered that cold bone of yours, now look at it a horror sight with a broken shard implanted on it and your calling me the freak! Well buddy your no better than a dead man if you think you can go up against the Butterflys trust I know. Drained magic or not if you keep climbing this endless wall for revenge and power it'll crumble down with you falling with it" Toffee was taken aback from Lotil's words and prepared to shout back at her, his right hand raised but Lotil's eyes narrowed, her jaw gaped open, and terrifying hissed escaped her mouth catching him by surprise.

Lotil took a step back from the lizard uneasy and angry "You were going to hurt me" she said her voice deepened.
Toffee look at her than his hand, placing it back down "N-no wait I wasn't - you were-" she cut off him off.
"It doesn't matter anymore, if you want to get yourself killed be my guest. I'm just a freak to you apparently" her voice cracked holding in a sob turning away from him.
Toffee's expression changed to guilt feeling horrible about all he said "Lotil, I'm sorry. I was just-" he tried reaching out for her but pulled it back.
Lotil's eyes fell with tears refusing to even look at him "SAVE YOUR BREATH!" She screamed, startling him "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" tears swept down her face and immediately climbed up the steep hill ignoring the pleading calls of Toffee behind  her. Lotil made it to the top and ran as fast as she could dodging trees, jumping over logs or roots, and breaking through thorns or brambles. She never stopped once, she ran and ran and ran until her legs gave out from underneath the hybrid making her collapse to the ground, Lotil took deep heavy breathes everything around her seeming like a blur slowly stood herself up a loud pop came from both her legs leaning against a tree for support let her eyes observe where exactly she had stopped at. Noticing the sign which said 'Forest of Certain Death' she realized she'd come across the end of the forest from all that running Lotil decided to go find a place to relax in peace, a place quiet where no one would disturb her getting a good idea as to where that place could be, the hybrid looked back at the lone path she had taken when running away remembering those angry fits of rage her and Toffee had saying things to each other that hurt them both emotionally, guilt swam over the hybrid sagging her heart in painful regret.

Little tears crawled in her eyes but blinked them away, turned her head from the forest and walked away in silence letting her mind forget about her troubles.
