Midnight's Shadow

~All things start small~

Chapter 1 ~

It was quiet, not a sound could be heard, well all except some heavey breathing and occasional whimpers from the nursery.
As the sun rose above the treetops a little Black kit with white tipped ears and a white tipped tail stretched herself and purred as the warmth of the sun streaked over her pelt, "Mmm morning at last." She purred, she then nudged her mother, "Mama, mama, it's morning now... Can-can I go explore the camp?" The white and grey sleeping figure raised her head sleepily and licked the kits head, "oh alright Shadowkit, but no annoying the leader or your clanmates, and stay in camp." Shadowkit shakes with excitement, "yes mama, thank you mama, rest now mama." Se then dashed off ready to see and explore.

In a different part if camp there was a dark figure moving about his den, he had been up most of the night working out how to organise his herbs; now This Tom had not long, only 4 or so moons been medicine cat of Duskclan and tried to look professional and pretended  Starleaf his old mentor was testing him AGAIN. "Right, done, all on order of importance and colour." He meowed, he then turned and saw sunlight slowly seeping through his den entrance, "Thank Staylrclan it's morning.. I'll go see who's up." He muttered to himself then he padded out,
As he got out if his den he waited for his eyes to adjust to the light, suddenly he jumped as he herd, "Morning Midnight." He looked down and saw Shadowkit, "Shadowkit, by Starclan you scared me." Shadowkit giggled, "sorry Midnight, I was just exploring as Mama let me." Midnight purred, "So where have you been so far?" Shadowkit shuffled her paw on the dirt, "Oh, just got up. Your the 1st cat up." Midnight smiled, "Well actually I didn't sleep." Shadowkit looked up at him, "No Sleep? But Mama said cats need sleep to feel happy and to sometimes visit Starclan." Midnight purred, "My your mothers taught you well, but I'm not like other clan cats, I'm special." Shadowkit looked puzzled so Midnight explained, "You see Shadowkit, Medicine cats Often Speak with cats in Starclan, we heal Cats and we are told Prophecies and warnings for the clan." Shadowkit's eyes shone, "Really! That's cool, I bet your parents are proud." Midnight looked away to hide his pain, "err, yes my mother watches from Starclan." Shadowkit rubs against him, "I'm-I'm sorry Midnight, I-I didn't mean to make you sad." Midnight bent over and nuzzled the young kit, "It's fine, you didn't know young one.. Besides Even in Starclan she mothers me." Shadowkit nods in understanding, "So—" "Mudnight!" Came a call, midnight bent down as licked Shadowkit's ear, "I'm needed now so, run along and find some of the apprentice to hang with. Shadowkit purrs then scampers off.

Midnight walked over to the leaders den, "Good morning Darkstar, beautiful morning." The black warrior nods, "It is, I saw the way you were around Shadowkit, I know having kits for you is forbidden but one day Starclan will give you an apprentice you will teach and care for." Midnight dips his head, "And till that day I wait."

Suddenly there was a yowl from the apprentice den as Midnight took off, as he got there he saw Shadowkit Standing over one if the apprentices licking deep wond a hissing. "Shadowkit what happened?" Midnight asked. "It.. Was.. Swollenpaw." Shadowkit puffed, "He attacked us and.. And Echo.." Midnight nuzzled her, "save your breath, I'll take over now." Midnight looked the app over, "Some deep wonds here, but they will heal quickly.
