The Bad Beginning

Chapter One



     I am a horse fanatic, I have horse poster covering my walls and the occasional snaffle bit or hoof pick in odd places. My best friend, is one of those I cannot get anything dirty or I will DIE! kinda person. I have 2 horses and a boarder, Cassie. My friend thinks fashion is a better thing to do than waste time with horses. She doesn't say that but I'm sure she is thinking it. Now don't think I'm one of those stupid cronies copying off their popular friend, we are both equals and that was the first thing we settled. Now back to the story. So I get on the bus and Amy (my friend) started critiquing my work on my daily clothes and bringing out thread and some lace fabric. I pushed her off and said, "Amy, I don't care what I look like as much as you do! Will you come over Saturday and maybe adjust my outfits then?" "No way Lis, you are going to make me get on horse!" "Guilty as charged, but you have to come I just got a new horse and I think you are going to love her!!!" "Just for a 1/2 hour ride, OK?" "Deal." So walked into school and I told her about Cassie was a head-shy 12 year old mare that I was slowly curing. She has gotten better enough to have a bit in her mouth. I learned all my tricks from heartland and if you don't know what those books are you are no true horse fan. Cassie is loving but headstrong and had to get things her way, I thought Amy would be perfect for her. They both almost exactly matched in temperaments. After school on the way home we decided we would go on a short hack. I was excited to teach Amy how to ride better, she might not share my love for horses but she knows how to ride.
