"Agh!" Auzure immediatly placed the dragon back on the desk. Eyes wide in fear and amazement, she watched the dragon stretch and yawn. The dragon's gaze panned over to Azure, and she froze, stiff as a rock.
"You aren't David?" The dragon asked, putting its pad and pencil down on the desk. It curled its green tail around itself and sat, twiddling its thumbs.
Azure coughed and found the courage to respond. "Uhm, no. Who's David?" Her voice wavered.
The dragon glared at her, and replied, "I'm not going to eat you, or breath fire, or harm you in any way, dear human." Azure relaxed and let out a breath. "And about David, oh, that's quite a story, you should go read it, he's a very good author, though he calls himself by a different name. It's called The Fire Within, yes, he does have a whole series, I'm quite proud of him for that." The dragon rambled on.
Azure still stood, not sure what to do, if she should leave, or ask him a question. Luckily, she didn't have to.
"My name is Gadzooks, by the way. Knowing humans, you are probably wondering, 'Now how in the world is this seemingly clay dragon speaking?' Well, I am quite tired, so I will have Mrs. Pennykettle speak to you of that matter, oh, where is she?"
It took Azure a bit to realize that Gadzooks had asked her a question, for she was still wrapping her brain around the whole 'talking clay dragon' thing! "Uh, uhm, I don't know, she was here a bit ago, as was a girl named Lucy..." Azure was cut off by Gadzooks rasing his small clawed hand and flapped his wings until he was hovering in an awkward sort of way. He flew out of the room and into the hall.
Gadzooks flew upstairs, and towards a door to the right, where, painted in green with golden flames surrounding it, was a sign that said, 'The Dragons Den.' From the crack under the door a violet shine shone. He perched on the door handle, holding his pencil and pad. He alighted onto Azure's shoulder as she opened the door.
It was a small room, with shelves that were empty, and some sculpting tools. At the end of the room, was a door-shaped portal, from which the violet light came from. Azure stood in the middle of the room, unsure of what to do.
"Well, go on human, you must leap in." Gadzooks said, pointing his pencil at the portal. He was now sitting on the shelf. "Good stories always have an exiting moment, a moment of change. To leap into another world, ooh, how exciting!"
Azure took a breath, and reached out to touch the portal. It didn't feel horrible or poisoned or anything, and it didn't look like it was going to close behind her, so she closed her eyes, and walked in.
Gadzooks still was on the shelf, scribbling something on his pad. "The, Fire, Within, Us. Yes, that should be fine." He looked at the portal. He spoke, his eyes an even deeper violet in the refelction of the portal, his voice a low, soothing tone.
"All stories must have a title, and I have a feeling this story is going to be a good one." And with that, he picked up his pencil and pad, and fle into the portal.
