Chapter 2: Police POV

Looking at the body that was in front of me, I nearly gagged. His spine was ripped open, legs and arms nearly torn off, and the jaw open way to wide. "That isn't human... And no evidence of a fight? How the hell?" I asked. "Detective, you should see the letters." The deputy informed me. The one beside the body was blank, but a black sheet of paper. The other said something.
"We mean no harm to anyone. Our only intention is to punish the criminals. If you have issues, please come to the Hollowsoul estate. Sighed, N." I read aloud.
After cleaning up the mess, I immediately went over to the address it listed. I looked up from the carriage I was riding in to see a large, marble estate, with a huge lake in the front. I went to the large, oak doors and knocked. A tall, young man with blond hair and white eyes. I showed him my badge, watching him invite me in.
"I assume your the master of the house?" I asked, looking around to see no servants. Entering was a huge living room, ahead a stairway. He shook his head. "I'm just simply a butler" he replied, leading me to the stairs. "Where's the master of the house?" I asked, realizing there were no other servants around. "Where I am taking you, sir: her office." The butler replied. Odd, the famous entates are usually male.
We turned right into a hallway, leading to another oak door. He opened it, showing a desk in front of a window. On the side was a smaller table with two chairs on each end, with a game on the table. Sitting at the desk was a face covered by a newspaper. The figure set the newspaper down, showing a child about thirteen with black curly hair with red highlights, and navy blue eye, the left covered by an eyepatch.
"Oh, was there another business meeting, Nathan? I don't remember scheduling one for today..." The girl asked. The man called Nathan shook his head. "Mam, this is Detective Johnson Luke. I don't know his intentions, but they may be important." The man replied.
The girl motioned for me to come sit, but I stayed standing rather than taking a chair in front of her desk. "Detective, is something wrong? I'm at a quite busy of an hour." She asked. I nodded my head yes, still unsure how a child is the master of a house. "A murder was committed last night, but a criminal tied beside him. Two envelopes were found. I would like you to read them." I explained, finally sitting down. She took an envelope, the one with the message. She nodded her head after reading it, then took out the black one. She nodded for the butler to leave, leaving us alone with the door closed.
"Sir, I do know about the criminal, I was the one who tied him up. The murder I don't know about. That may have been another or some... Poison, I don't know." She replied, leaning back into the chair.
"Then why does the envelope have the same seal?" I asked, leaning foreword. "Because, many people who work for the queen use that seal. It's common but hard to retrieve." She replied, putting both letters back in the envelopes. I noticed something odd: she put them in the same exact envelope. "Your implying you work for the queen. I belive you're to... Young." I worded carefully.
She laughed, then had a serious face. "It runs in the family. Have you not heard of the Hollowsoul family?" She asked, hands clasped togeather, elbows on the desk. Her eyes were closed, but she seemed to be looking down. That's when it rang a bell. " They had all died from a murder and the house was burnt." I recalled. She shook her head. "Not all, the daughter was missing. Don't you recall finding her? In fact, I believe you were the one who found me." She implied.
Victoria. Victoria Hollowsoul. That was her name.
