i can't explain stories

What I normally do is leave a day to think about it. Think about the characters, how they got where they are, is there a problem, how do they solve it, do they have specific personality trait, things like that. Just give your brain time to process an idea. If you can't think but still want to use the idea, either use it in a different story, or think of a good beginning then just see where that takes you.
