How can I get my windows computer to update?

Question

I have windows 8 and it wont update to 8.1 (I'm trying to get it so that then I can update it to windows 10). I've already tried clearing the cache, rebooting it, and downloading all of my info on to a flash drive. Does anyone know any other tricks that I can try?

There should be a windows button in the home screen at the bottom right
