I’d turn to him, watery eyes deep with contempt and a slight sense of what may be dread. It fades away as quickly as it came, a smile upturning my cheeks. I deftly grab the pieces of bread from his hands and slam them onto his cheeks at full force.
With a dull, slow click of my tongue, I softly respond with “no.. no you.” I watch smugly as the words click for the pasty, sturdy man, and his expression falls, jaw loosening and eyes misting over. He lets out a muttered string of See More▼ profanities and turns away, leaving me with the two pieces of bread and a newfound burst of self respect. I let out a small chuckle.
