how to recover from death?

In september, someone really close to me and the colorguard passed (michelle) away from ovarian cancer. to this day, i still partially blame myself for some reason, because earlier that day when she was admitted to the hospital, i was thinking "what if she died?" i know it's dumb, because obviously i didn't kill her, but i can't help but feel like i did. every time anybody brings her up, i always cry, even if i shouldn't in the situation. plus, when the band director told us about her death, someone i really looked up to gasped and cried, i can't get the sound they made out of my head. i think about michelle and the moment we found out every single day. how can i get over it?
believe and achieve 7/17/16 ?

I've never dealt with this, so disclaimer, I might give bad advice or be deeply unhelpful and if that's the case, I apologize. I just can't stand to not at least try.

Really the best that I can recommend is to find others who understand what you're going through and talk to them - the other people who were there when you found out, or who also were close to her, or even just others you know who have lost someone they were really close to. Don't try to keep yourself from thinking See More▼
