Why are dog years measured in 7's?

It's because they look like grown dogs at the age of 1 (in human years), I guess.

Well, it is every 1 human year is 7 dog years. So if you have a 4 year old dog, he/she is 24 years old in dog years

dogs live longer than we humans do so dogs years are another way of measuring years. And only the first 3 years aremeasured in 7s then all the rest of the years are measured in 5s.
