why is dr sues called dr sues if he dosent have a Ph.D?

Theodor Seuss Geisel is his real name and he signed his drawings of the Loraxes, Whos, and Zooks with "Dr. Theophrastus Seuss", to give a scientific distinction to his goofy books!
