Short swords are easy to wield,meaning that if you lose it then whatever sharp thing you pick up in battle (which is likely) will become your weapon. Short swords are basically just longer knives, which are good in combat,especially close range. But,if you need to attack far away,thats where throwing knives training comes in.
so yeh.
