The new layout is called "masonry", and considering that the items displayed (quizzes, stories...) can have variable title, description, optional image, it should fill better than the old layout, which usually cropped the images.
The masonry layout is very simple:
Before: vertical ordering, quizzes were displayed on a vertical list, top to bottom Now: vertical See More▼ + horizontal ordering, similar to reading/writing, meaning displaying the quizzes left to right, then continue on to the next line
