With a splintery door with chipping paint, nail marks on it from you trying to get out. Imagine a cold carpet that scaths your feet and arms. Imagine bugs crawling from cracks in the walls, spiders dangling from the ceiling. Imagine a dead lightbulb hanging from a metal cord that sometimes flickers when you touch it. Imagine trying to hang yourself with the cord. Imagine a See More bookshelf full of dusty books with pages that give the worst papercuts. Imagine the cold drafty air flowing from the dusty, bug ridden vent in the ceiling. That's why they call it the closet. It's horrible. It's not "cute". But it shouldn't be easy to come out just because the door is easy to open. For some people, the doorknob has spikes that slice you open. For some, what's outside the door will hurt them. STOP ROMANTICIZING THE CLOSET.
