Emo
You got Emo! The emo subculture rose from emotional hardcore or emocore music. It is normally placed alongside an emotional, angry with society mentality which appeals to young individuals. Emo bands include My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Blink 182, Linkin Park, Dashboard Confessional, Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, and Panic! at the Disco. Emo subculture was particularly dominant throughout the 2000s. Characteristics of this subculture include heavy eyeliner, band tshirts, skinny jeans, side swept hair, gloves with thumb holes, black clothing, vans sneakers, converse, skulls and skateboards. Emo culture is often tied to stores like Hot Topic, Spencers and Zumiez. Music tends to have more emotional, desperate lyrics. The downside to emo culture is a culture which sometimes glorifies suicide. The emo culture can be very linked to sadness and an anger towards existence. During the early 2000s, emo was quite popular. Bands like Panic! at the Disco and Green Day were partially mainstreamed. Other emo outlets came from more obscure artists on platforms such as myspace or soundcloud.
