Five Zelda games in that post.

Link's Awakening is by far the saddest Zelda game of all time.
While Twilight Princess comes close, Link's Awakening still managed to be the saddest. Think about it. Link awakens on this mysterious island. The residents are friendly, yet have no idea how they got there, and how long they'd been there. The adventurer meets a kind, beautiful girl named Marin. A girl who would probably make a pretty wonderful girlfriend. There's so much evidence to support the fact that Marin loved See More▼ Link (And he probably liked her back). Seems great, right? Well, most people overlook the terrifying bits of the island. A shopkeeper with a power any boss would envy. A goat who makes a man believe that she's a blonde beauty (Aka Princess Peach). All of those unsettling pieces of information. And that sad, restless little ghost. And perhaps the most cryptic piece of information of all, discovered in the Southern Shrine;
"HUMAN, MONSTER, SEA, AND SKY. A SCENE IN THE LID OF A SLEEPER'S EYE. AWAKEN THE DREAMER AND THE ISLAND WILL VANISH MUCH LIKE A BUBBLE ON A NEEDLE. CAST AWAY, YOU SHOULD KNOW THE TRUTH."
The message actually has a deeper meaning than we thought.
Human, Monster, Sea and Sky. A scene on the lid of a sleeper's eye.=The island is merely a dream.
Awake the Dreamer...=Further evidence that it is a dream.
The Island will vanish...=The Isle of Koholint will disappear once the dreamer is woken.
Conclusion; The Island is the fantasy of 'The Dreamer' (Aka the Wind Fish), and when he is awoken, the dream will die.
And the bosses are constantly reminding you of this. (If you didn't know, Yes, the bosses talk. And under some circumstances, a buzz blob can become a cukeman upon being sprinkled with magic dust. And in German, Cukemen talk about condoms.)
Finally, the island can never be returned to. In most games, it is made clear that the character who left or disappeared somehow is still 'there'. Fi remains asleep in the Master Sword. The King of Hyrule simply stays behind. Midna is in her own world. Linebeck...Well, I'd rather not talk about the wonderful captain's post PH fate. But it was not as tragic as Koholint's disappearance. The whole island disappears. Link can never return to visit Marin. He is forever separated from the woman who he probably thought was his soulmate. Because she didn't exist. And it wasn't just her. The entire damn island. Gone.
That also leaves us with so many questions. What happened to everyone on the island? Were they as well Cast Aways who returned home? Did they awaken, too? Or did they simply disappear? And was Marin's Seagull wish a good choice...?
