Yes, it has happened since the beginnings of humanity. Humans often relied on cannibalism to survive. Afterwords they blocked out these memories to not be dragged down by guilt

Well then I guess there's a time lapse in our memories. Each time we go on a cannibal rampage our animal instincts kick in. Not being able to trust the "food" in one's habitat, we go out and look for a decent prey. We look for something, slow, dumb, and easy to catch. So what do we go after? Humans. Simple, over populated humans. They might not taste good but See More they sure are easy to catch. And once we are full, our minds go back to being normal. And then we forget about it and so does the rest of the world. Cause I mean, nothing like this could happen in real life, right?
