Chapter 2.

Chapter Two

In the sudden darkness my stunned friends were briefly silent.  The world melted away and it seemed like an empty expanse of nothingness. I remember thinking, "what if this is what it feels like to die." then all of a sudden snapping me out of my delusion a familiar voice speaks out
"shit, this happens all the time up here guys," Jillian says. "there should be some flashlights in the kitchen cabinet." As if one cue a dull light illuminates from the corner. Petey's face is reveal from the darkness by the light of his cell phone.
"Great now we don't even have tv. Babe we should have just gone to the beach lke everyone else." Chase's voice sounds from the darkness.
"well excuse me for trying to be original." Jillian retorts. Suddenly I feel a cold hand at the small of my back causing me to take in a sharp breath.
"Mel, is that you?"Carter whispers in my ear. For a second I am to lost in my own thoughts to answer, but i finally manage a quick yes. By now Jillian has made here way over to the kitchen and a narrow beam of light scans the room. There is only a couple here guys, we'll have to share."
"and what are we supposed to do the rest of the night with are two flashlights, hum?" Petey snaps, he is obviously annoyed about the choice of vacation like chase.
"Now we'll just have to get super drunk, it's the only option." chase blurts.
"Do you really want to be stumbling around a dark house stepping in vomit, I'm a light weight you know." Jillian says.
"Why don't we just go to bed, I'm tired you guys," I pipe up.
"Oh look she really is becoming a nun. It's not even eleven o'clock yet. Didn't we come up here to party?" Chase hammers on about my nunish behavior.
"Mel, come on. we can find something to do." carter says. I can still feel hia hand hovering around my waist. I don't say anything. I'm feeling alittle drained after never have i ever.
"Look at this!" Petey says. i can still see his nose buried in his cell phone screen, "The Midnight Man Game is not a game, but a test of the power of your soul," he recites from some website. "Only the most brave of heart and strong of will can survive the game unscathed. The game is played at midnight, no later or earlier, or else it will not work. All of the lights in your house must be turned of, no problem there. The Midnight man is a demonic spirit that drags his taughters to hell. To play the game you must call apone the midnight man. Iif you make it through the night you are lucky." Petey finishes reading.
"that is such bullshit! drags his taughters to hell, ha!" Chase hisses
"well of course it's bullshit, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun.
"Guys i don't think we should mess with that stuff," i say, i know well enough that this demonic shit could be real enought.
"Mel, you have to be kidding me!" chase says," what is with you are you trying to make this trip suck even more?"
"Midnight man will follow you through the darkness and if you stay in one spot for too long you will be his." Petey reads again from the website.
"there you go," chase says," we are doing and if you don't the midnight man with drag you through the tv or chase you with little girl ghost twins or something. you can either play with us your sit in the dark and die." he says this in humor, but i feared the very thinks he said would be true. I felt childish, but now I know the fear of a child is sometimes the most logical fears of all
