The Jester's Song

The Jester's Song

He plays no song of his own in that cold dark cell he calls a body. Mutterings of a mad man escaping his lips and tears running down his mask. He however is unaware that he only plays the song that true chaos allows him to play. He wishes to sing a song of more than just chaos, to be the better antagonist. But unfortunately, as all jesters do... He falls miserably short. He fails to see past what we, the observers can see. He cannot see the silver strings tethering him to the fingers of a dark and cold entity whose plan has just started. Not even our dearly beloved hero, Mario, could ever save us. For the end of time itself has merely begun. This is just an experimental story, enjoy and feel free to interact with it.

1.) His Say? No. Our Say.

This is a story with various endings, none of which either you or I have control over, but it is his choice in the end. He knows he has to choose a path, yet he only stands on the fine line. So let's play a game between the narrator and you, the observers. Even if you have no idea who this is, I want you to take some time and help me devise a way to steer him to a SINGLE ending. What I do is I tell the story of Dimentio after Queen Jaydes sent Dimentio to the Underwhere or, as we would call it, Hell. This is the only chance we have to save or destroy what little worldview he has. So... What do you say?

***

Dimentio sat in his cell, head tilted down as he thought of how it was he got there. A hard scoff left the jester as his hands slowly squeezed into tight fists. How could he have been so STUPID to let those damned heroes defeat *him*? He was Dimentio! The lord of dimensions and all that came with it. It should have been him who had won. It should have been... Footsteps sounded from down the hall, and he paused to listen.
Click, click, click...
That was a familiar pattern he had grown to dislike cause it only meant he had to do more, and with that came more laborious tasks. Which on its own ached. And without his magic... god knows how much more he could take until his back bent so far back that it finally-. The door swung open. "You're getting out." He blinked in surprise. This figure was not that of the usual guard but someone different. He thought this was a cruel joke and shrugged away from them. "What kind of sick-" He rasped before they snapped. "Do you want out or not?" He tilted his head one way and then the other before letting out a long exhale. Fine. He would leave, but if this turned out to be some joke-. He strode to the door with his head lowered. Who in their right mind would have it in them to release him? It is funny, though... He felt an odd sensation in his chest as he slipped out and walked onwards. He would have floated, but magic doesn't exist in the land of the dead, as everyone thought. He probably had a slight idea where his magic went, though. Jaydes. He cursed that woman in the depths of his broken mind. He also cursed Blumiere for the change in plans. He read the contract and the fact it had changed caused much resentment. As he thought these things over and over he didn't notice he was out in the wastelands of this hell. He kept walking on and on until he had run into someone familiar.
"Ah Dimentio!" A loud booming voice greeted, and the masked Jester slowly looked up to see that of a monstrous spirit. "I was just getting ready to come to visit you."
Dimentio's eyes were wide and he opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He knew exactly who this was and he was left in a state of, well, something.
He cleared his throat though and stood straighter. "King Boo," He said in a more collected and poised manner as he took a deep bow before him. This of course always made the King's ego swell up in joy. Which disgusted Dimentio but he was good about not letting that show. "I did not expect to see you. But you said you were ah coming to see me?"
"Ah yes! I was I wanted to..." A long pause as the idiot decided on his words. "Cut you a deal... Bah, we can discuss it at my castle, come along now." And then suddenly the surrounding area spun, getting faster and faster. It was enough to make anyone motion sick. But Dimentio only closed his eyes and frowned a little before either of them knew they were no longer there.
