Chapter 1- The Very Beginning

In the beginning, there were three races, the most common being humans. And then you had the demons and the angels, sworn enemies. The demons and angels had been at war for centuries, and little could even remember the cause of it all. The human race had always tried to stay out of the war, declining all requests from either side to join the battle. Only the mightiest were chosen to go to battle, and many worked hard to earn their keep. One of the most well respected, honored demons of all the demons territory was Kurai ("Dark" or "Gloomy" in Japanese.) Kurai was treated as a king, and nobody dared disrespect him. Kurai was often injured in battle, being the brave demon he was, and it wasn't unusual for him to end up in the clinic. One particular time in the clinic, he was introduced to his new caretaker, Shiba, a tall and slender young demon. They bonded immediately, becoming close friends, and eventually... falling in love. They were married years later, and had a daughter, who they named Kila. Growing up as an only child, Kila got used to the attention- and loved it. She was an obedient little girl, and well known for her beauty and being Kurai's daughter. Around the age 12, Kila was loved by many in her classes at school, and enjoyed being a popular student. Kila was kind and loving to all, not using her popularity to look down on others, but as she grew older, she changed..
