Asylum.

Asylum.

I don't know who I am, where I'm at, or why I'm here. All I know is I'm in a gown, in a room, and the voices keep screaming at me.

Chapter 1.

You're Crazy. You're Insane.

Pounding pains. Screaming voices. I hear them.
It's like every corner of my brain is filled with the voices.
I open my eyes, unwillingly. But I need to see where they're coming from.
Empty. Well, all accept for the bed I'm sitting on. The bumpy, uncomfortable bed.
Confusion. Who am I? Where am I? What is going on?
I try so hard to remember, but nothing comes. Well, beside that one voice that keeps yelling "Shut up!"
Then fear. It's the worst kind of fear when you have no idea what's going on. For all I know, someone kidnapped me.
I look down, and I'm wearing a nightgown and plain shoes. No laces, nothing.
The room is boring. White walls, one window with bars over it, and my plain white bed. The only thing not white is my black hair. I have black hair?
I hear footsteps outside of the one door in front of me. More fear, panic, anxiety. Every inch of my brain is screaming things that make me afraid.
So, naturally, I start screaming, too. I grip the blanket underneath me and lean my head back, screams spilling out of my open mouth.
The door opens, and a woman with dark skin and dark hair comes in. She's wearing a white dress, but better than mine. My gown is just... boring.
"Tara, calm down," she coos. She rests her arm on me, and I flinch away.
"Who's Tara?" I scooch over against the edge of my bed.
"They were right. You don't remember a thing."
"Who is Tara and WHO ARE YOU?" I clutch my stomach, and it feels bumpy. I lift up the dress and see a long scar. I gasp.
"Honey, you're Tara. My name is Maggie; I'm a nurse here at the Genesis Asylum." Her voice is so soothing. But even if her voice is soothing, I don't care.
"What is THIS?" I jab a finger at the long, white scar. It's even whiter than my pale skin.
"This is from..." She looks down sympathetically. "Why don't you come out here?" She reaches for my hand. Since it's either go somewhere and have a chance to escape, or stay locked in this room, I grab her hand. She leads me out the door and into a small blue room.
A girl, who looks about 13, sits on the faded blue couch. She's playing with cards.
Maggie leads me over to the girl. "This is Andy. She's 13, like you."
I sit beside Andy on the couch. Her brown hair is stringy on her face. Her eyes stare blankly at the red cards in her hands.
"Uh... Hi." I wait for her to respond. Instead, she starts whispering nonsense.
"You're insane," I say.
"And you're not?" says a voice from behind me. I turn around, and a girl with long blonde hair stares at me.
"What are you talking about?" Me, insane? Phht.
"You wouldn't be here if you weren't insane. What're you in for?"
"In for?"
"Why are you here? I'm here because I have Schizophrenia."
"What's that?"
"Multiple personality disorder."
"Oh."
"So, why are you here?"
"Well..." I pause. "I don't know. I just woke up here and that's all I know. Today, I learned that I'm 13 and I have a scar and my name is Tara."
"That's weird. My name is Ally." She sticks out her hand.
I just stare at it.
"Ally, why don't you not touch her," Maggie hisses.
"Why can't I touch her?"
"Because, she's a little out of it. Maybe when she's better. I shouldn't even let you girls shake hands, anyways; there's a no touching rule here."
While she's talking, I stop seeing the room I'm in. All I see is red liquid and I hear the screaming voices. I feel pain as I watch these images fly through my mind. I start screaming and I lean back, begging them to go away.
I feel something go into me, and then I lose consciousness.
