Chapter 3.

3

The following nights were rather uneventful for Roger. It was the usual routine for him; March, eat, puke, sleep, repeat.
Alexandria, on the other hand, was another story.
This man visited nearly every night. She simply did not understand why he did so.
He could possibly someone who was obsessed with her. Most likely Christopher Joeseph. She considered the idea that "Roger" could be Skye, but quickly ruled out that thought.
As much as it hurt to think about it, Skye would've returned if she could. She wouldn't leave Alexandria searching and never come back.
Skye was dead. She had to be.
Alex bit her lip.
It wasn't just the thought that her lifelong friend was gone that plagued the woman's mind.
It was Roger.
She didn't want to admit it, but she'd begun to grow quite fond of Roger. He was beautifully mysterious. As much as she hated herself for doing so, Alex liked him a lot.
It wasn't until the night of the blood moon, that her feelings began to change.
On that night, he'd brought her to the place where the carnival once stood. But not just any carnival;
The carnival that her and Skye used to go to.
He then placed a sword in her hand and pulled one that must've been his own from the dirt.
He wanted to fight.
Alexandria knew that she couldn't kill him. She didn't want to,and even if she did, Roger was a soldier. Besides, Alexandria had no idea how to wield a sword.
She wanted to know his identity before she fell.
The battle began very much like any match of fencing. Their swords clashed together multiple times, as one waited for the other to strike.
Then. Alex noticed something.
Roger was nervous. She could tell simply by looking at him. His entire body shook and he was rather clumsy with his actions. The woman figured that now was the perfect time to strike.
In a single swipe, she brought her sword up and knocked the hat from Roger's head. He fell to the muddy ground, covering his face.
Alex began to panic. She'd hurt the soldier. The man lied unmoving on the ground, his uniform being drenched by the rain.
As Alex turned Roger onto his back, her jaw dropped and she froze in shock.
