Chapter 2.

Underground

Upon opening her yes, Annette groaned. A sharp pain shot through her temple, and she blinked at her fuzzy surroundings. She was... Alive? But... How? Why?

She crawled to her feet, wobbly and feeling unfamiliar in her own body. Annette looked down, examining herself.
No broken bones, she noted, which was remarkable. She only bore the burden of several bleeding cuts and even more developing bruises. She brought a hand to the side of her head, touching at a spot that hurt and flinched at the contact. When she looked back at that hand, she saw blood.

Then, she looked around her. She had been standing in a patch of buttercups that grew in the sun shining through the opening above. What pretty flowers they were, she thought to herself, and for a brief moment she forgot that she had ever attempted suicide. This didn't seem real, none of it seemed legitimate. When Annette realized why she was down here in the first place, her heart sank.

There was no way she could just sit here and wait to be starved. Now that she thought about it... She really didn't want to get devoured by monsters either. She would much rather go out quickly, and with as little suffering as possible.

She had to keep moving.

So, with no other options, she ventured forth into the unknown, where no human has seen and lived to tell of it.

"Howdy!"

A voice startled her, and she just about jumped out of her skin. She'd been walking for some time now, aimlessly, fretting every waking moment, when the boy's voice called out to her. When she turned, she didn't know what to expect, but she most certainly didn't expect a talking flower with facial features smiling up at her.

"I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower!"

The little flower went on to talk about how she was a poor, confused soul who needed someone to show her how things work around here, but all she could do was stare. Honestly, half the words he said went in one ear and right out the other, because she was so focused on the fact that there was an actual flower trying to have a conversation with her.

Maybe the blood loss from her head was making her hallucinated. She was light headed and dizzy, so that was a possibility in her mind. Or maybe none of this was real and she was dreaming in a coma or something.

"Catch them! They're friendliness pellets!" Said the flower, and when what appeared to be seeds flew at her, she moved out of the way. She didn't even really think about it, it was more like an instinct.

She then noticed the flower grow.. Irritated?

He encouraged her to try again, and then she dodged once more, he was even more impatient.

"Run! Into! The! Bullets!" Cried the flower, and Annette gasped. Bullets? Did he say bullets?

The flower caught himself in his anger, realizing he had lost this opportunity to fool the girl, and as she was backing away, he laughed at her.

"You know what's going on here, don't you?" He says, sounding malicious now. She shook her head, but he didn't seem to care. Everything happened so fast--  He shouted something about "kill or be killed" and suddenly those bullets were closing in on her and there was nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. Was he going to die, now?

Apparently not, fate decided, because a ball of flames chased the flower off, and a goat monster took his place.

Though she was smiling, Annette was afraid, and it was likely that she could see that as her features softened.

"Such a poor, innocent youth..."
