Warrior Cats || Burning Stars || Book One || Stepping Stones

For generations, four clans ruled. They shared four different terrains: AshClan ruled the dead forest with the hard rock ground, MarshClan ruled the marshy area, DawnClan ruled the oak forest with its soft grass, and ShadeClan ruled the forest were grass was short and dead, and huge pine trees blocked out the sun at all hours. But when one cat was born in AshClan on the rainiest night, and new prophecy was set out leaving the runt of the litter to wonder: would she make it out alive, or would she die trying?

Chapter 5.

Chapter Two

Ashpaw awoke early the next morning. She was awoken by WolfSun, he said she wanted to teach her some fighting moves. Ashpaw had shaken all her sleepiness off and ran after WolfSun, who was going at a light jog.
When the arrived at the battle training area, WolfSun suddenly turned and lunged at her. Ashpaw panicked and froze, hitting the ground when WolfSun rammed into her. WolfSun's claws were, of course, sheathed. "If you want to live in a battle, you must always be ready." She jumped into the dip and Ashpaw followed, looking expectantly. "The first lesson I'll teach you is dodging an attack. So, Ashpaw, when a cat lunges at you what you do is crouch and slide out of the way. Try it."
Ashpaw backed up and stood, ready, and watched as WolfSun ran and charged. She crouched and as WolfSun fell she rolled over. She stood up and as she jumped on top of WolfSun,  WolfSun rammed her head into her chest and pinned Ashpaw, putting her paw on Ashpaw's heart. "Dead."
They tried again, over and over. Dodging and responding. Dodging and responding. WolfSun was fully energetic, but Ashpaw was so tired. WolfSun lunged at Ashpaw. Instead of rolling away, Ashpaw lunged up to meet her and slammed her paw onto the side of WolfSun's neck, and as she hit the ground she slid away, ready for the warriors next move. Instead of WolfSun going to fight back, she stood up and chuckled. "Very good, Ashpaw. I think its time we go home and rest. Tomorrow I'll teach you to hunt."

When Ashpaw fell asleep that night, she was to tired to think about today or tomorrow. All she thought was sleeping. But StarClan wouldn't let her rest. The cats above had decided tonight was the night to explain to Ashpaw that she was going to have turn into the hero.
Ashpaw awoke, but not for real. She awoke into a dream. She looked around and saw a beautiful meadow, with sun shiny down it. In front of her stood a cat. The first thing she asked was "who are you and were am I?".
The cat looked at Ashpaw and spoke in a serious, clear voice. "I am Raven of Darkest Nights. I am here to tell you something important." Another cat shimmered into view beside Raven. "This is Acornpaw. She died shortly after she and the others joined DuskClan."
Ashpaw looked at them, confused, buts said nothing for a moment. "So why have you decided to disturb my resting?".
Acornpaw spoke in a gentle, soft voice. "We have a prophecy set out for you."
"A.....a prophecy?"
"Yes." Raven mewed. "Darkness is coming and with him comes death. Only the silver ashed tree can rise upon the rest and save the slipping four. But the silver cat must call upon the scarred wolf for help, wanted or not."
"What does-" But Ashpaw was cut off by Acornpaw.
"Remember, Ashpaw, this new prophecy will give you powers no cat has had before. Its all up to you."
And then Ashpaw woke up.

When she woke up the first thing she wanted to do is run and tell Clearstar. But something told her not to. Ashpaw rose to her feet. This was her job, to...save the slipping four...whatever that ment. No cat had to know. She looked up and saw WolfSun standing next to her. "Wake up,Ashpaw. Today we go hunting."
