Chapter 2.

Chapter two

Naomi's brown hair swayed in the light breeze. Her diligent, emerald eyes darted from person to person, searching for her best - and only - friend. Anxiety swept over her as she pulled at the sleeves of her sweater. He isn't usually this late. Maybe something happened to him? Perhaps he was sick? Those types of thoughts rushed through Naomi's mind as she began to chew on the sleeve of her sweater.
"Naomi, calm down. I was in the restroom." a voice called from behind her. Relief washed over the girl as she turned. Andrew, the boy with bright blue eyes and brown hair, stood before her. He gave a reassuring smile and gathered her small figure into a hug. Naomi readily returned gesture, tightly holding onto him. Her arms wrapped around his chest, and held onto him like he was her last life-line.
In a way, he was her last life-line. No one else cared enough to care for her. Andrew has been there for what seems like forever. He was there when her mother died. He was there when depression took over. He has always been there for her.
He's tried hinting that he likes Naomi, in a more-than-friends way, but that girl is a bit more oblivious to others feelings than most.
Andrew wishes nothing more to make Naomi happy for the rest of her life. To be there when she is sad, happy, nervous. To make her his own. To be hers. All her wants is to tell her how much he loves her.
    But somethings can never happen.
