Chapter 2.

Chapter 1

I’m walking home feeling nervous about my results, what if I don’t get in? What if I get in and lose? Well there’s no use worrying about it yet, I’ll just have to wait for tomorrow.
I get home and I’m greeted by my mom, dad, little brother Henry, older brother Fred and twin sister Ellie.
“How'd it go?” asks Ellie.
“I don’t know I’m getting a letter tomorrow morning with my results and any other details if I got it,” I reply, “but for now I’m just gonna go to bed, good night.”
I wake up to something tapping on my window, I open my eyes and see it’s an owl with a letter attached to it’s leg, so I get up and run towards the window and open it, the owl flies in and lands on my desk in the far corner of the room, I run after it and untie the letter. I break the seal and unfold the letter and read:
Dear miss Penny Cooper,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the Tournament of Champions. You will catch the 11:00am train to Sydney (the one on Vancouver Island) tomorrow, you’re ticket is in the envelope. you’re list of school supplies has been attached to this letter, we look forward to seeing you at our school. You will be with us for two years, one for training and one for the competition. When you arrive you will see someone greeting new students and they will tell you where to go.

Alice Trueblood, deputy headmistress

I run down stairs as fast as I can.
“Mom! Mom!” I yell
“What is it Penny?” she asks.
“I got in! I leave tomorrow so we have to go buy everything on this list today,” I reply.
“That’s great Penny! What do you need?”
“Scales, cloaks, cauldrons, my own owl, a broomstick…”
“Ok I get the point sweetie, we’ll go to town right after breakfast.”
“Ok.”
We eat breakfast and take our slightly modified car into the wizarding town. When we get there the first place we go is to get my wand repaired, that way by the time we finish everything else my wand will be ready to use without causing fatal damage.
Next we go to the tailor to get me a robe for school and a new outfit for training. The tailor has a very small store and we were there for quite a while, inside there were several little platforms for people to stand on while the tailors fixed every little thing that made whatever outfit it was not perfect. In front of the platforms were mirrors and there was a waiting room at the front of the building and in the waiting room was a few benches and chairs and the secretary's desk.
After that it’s of to the potions store to by scales, a cauldron and any ingredients on the list. The potions store is filled with rows and rows of ingredients and scales and cauldrons, everything you could ever need to make potions was in that store, it is amazing and with their amazing staff I am finding everything I need so easily, now we have to eat.
And here’s where we eat lunch. Lunch is good, it isn't the best lunch ever because we had to spend so much on school supplies, it is a chicken sandwich with french fries, but they are really good french fries.
Next we go to the broom shop. The broom shop has so many brooms you wouldn’t be able to count. So many different types and models of all sizes. The whole store and everything in it is made of wood, how amazing is that? Anyway, I’ve finally decided on a broomstick, you’ll figure out what it is soon enough
Then we go to the bookstore and buy the right books for every subject! The bookstore has so many books it's amazing. Books on transfiguration, potions, care of magical creatures, charms, defense against the dark arts and any other subject you can think of, fantasy, true, spiritual, adventure, fairy tales...
And last but definitely the best is the pet store! So many owls to chose from! I finally decided on an adorable little pigmy owl. The pet store is better than any of the stores we have been in so far, it has so many cages with owls and rats and mice. Tanks with fish, lizards, snakes and turtles.
Then we just go to the wand makers to pick up my new and improved wand. The wand makers is a small building that is kinda beat up and looks like a shack and the inside isn't that much different, the walls are covered in wands with different labels on them telling the wand maker what type of wand it is so he can try to find the right one for that customer.
Now we are driving home with all of my new supplies, we just have to eat dinner and as soon as I wake up I just have to get up, eat and get to the train station by 10:45am, then I will be gone for two years at the school I’ve dreamed of going to my whole life, two years because we will spend one year training and one year actually competing. This is the most exciting thing that has ever or will ever happen to me.
"Are you excited?" asks Ellie who is sitting right beside me.
"Of course I am, but I'm also really nervous, I mean I could win this thing or get myself exiled," I reply.
"If you get exiled, we'll all come join you wherever you go."
"Good, cause I can't live on my own, and I'd miss you all way too much."
We get home and unload everything, then I go get my suitcase and go pack everything I need for the two years I'll be there, water bottle clothes, school supplies...
I've finished packing so I bring my suitcase downstairs to the car so that it's ready to go in the morning, now I just have to go back inside, eat and go to bed, then in the morning I'll be ready to go.
This morning I wake up to Ellie standing over me saying:
"Penny! Penny! Today is your first day at your new school in Sydney, so wake up!"
"Ok, I'm up, what's for breakfast?" I ask.
"Pancakes, you're favorite!"
"Pancakes? This is the best day ever!"

I know it's kind of my own spin off of Harry Potter. I'm working on it though I actually learned from an author that starting with other people's stories can help your own writing too
