The Happiness Project (An Axl Heck Fanfic)

Axl. One of the most, if not the most, popular person in his school. Loved by everyone, and good at everything. Plays football, and is an aspiring athlete. Victoria. One of the most unpopular people in the school, and unable to talk at school due to her disorder. Trying to get through life at her awful school, where she learns nothing. The two of them couldn't be more different. But when they are forced to be partners for a school project, they get to know each other and learn to work together. But when they find they have feelings for each other, they begin to focus less on their schoolwork, and more on another project. One that is proving to be even more difficult than anything at school. A project on happiness.

Chapter 4.

Chapter 3

"Okay, guys. Your pairs are now on the board, so find out who you're with and go and sit with them." the teacher instructed, and every person in the class got up at once to sit with their partners.

I reluctantly rose from my seat and made my way across the room to where Axl was sat. I seated myself beside him at his table, hoping he wouldn't talk to me. But I knew he would have to say something to me at some point, because we were going to be working together.

"Hey." Axl said to me.

I decided to try my best to talk to him. I didn't want to be working with someone that made fun of me every day, because it would make the fact that I had to work with a partner even worse.

"Hi." I whispered, barely able to get the word out.

"So, you're Victoria, and you're going to be my partner for this project?" he asked me, looking at me curiously.

I looked up at him, and as I did so, I realised that Axl was actually very good looking. He had dark brown curly hair that hung in front of his near perfect face, and he had the most beautiful eyes. They were the exact colour of the ocean, with small flecks of gold in the corners. He was just gorgeous.

But he was probably a bad person. He was popular, and every popular person at my school was a bully who did awful things. Even if he looked perfect, he would probably be someone who acted like that, which would make me dislike him. And even if by some miracle he wasn't like the other popular kids, he probably wouldn't like me anyway. So there wasn't really any point in trying.

So I looked back down as quickly as I had looked up.

"Yeah." I said, staring down at the desk.

"Well, hi, Victoria. I'm Axl, but you probably already know me, because of how popular I am at this school." he told me.

I was amazed at how he had actually described himself as 'popular'. Not even the other popular kids told other people that they were well liked, because they probably thought that would make them less popular. Axl was like them, but he still seemed different in some ways.

I forced myself to smile at him, and he grinned at me. His smile was actually really cute, just like the rest of him.

Then the teacher told one of the other students to hand out the sheets with the task on, and when Axl and I got one, I opened my English book and started working immediately. After a few minutes, I had written almost a full page of ideas for our project. I kept on writing, more and more ideas coming to me as I went, until I heard a voice from beside me.

"Wow." Axl breathed out.

I turned to look at him, confused.

"How did you write that much in just a few minutes?" he asked me.

"It's easy." I told him, then I continued writing.

"Well, I would never be able to write that much." he said.

"More people should." I said.

"So, what are you, then? Some kind of writing professional?" Axl asked me, leaning back in his chair.

I looked up at him again, and allowed myself to smile slightly at that before looking back down at the table.

After about half an hour, and a few more exchanges of words between Axl and I, the teacher spoke again.

"If you can, try to work on your projects outside of school with your partner. You'll get more work done that way." she told the class.

"Hey, Victoria? Do you want to come over to my house to work on this project? You seem to have a lot of ideas, so maybe we could look through them and see which ones we're going to use." Axl said to me.

I suddenly felt scared. I didn't really want to go to Axl's house, because I didn't know him that well. He would probably turn out to be a bully, like most of the kids at my school, and I didn't want to have to spend hours with someone like that. It would most likely be very awkward as well, because I wouldn't exactly be able to say a lot to Axl, and he might start to make fun of me like everyone else did.

"Okay." I replied.
