We Are Soldiers!

We Are Soldiers!

In a world where danger lurks at every shadow, can these cats survive? Humans have begun capturing cats and doing experiments on them left and right. Some show positive signs, making them have powers. And others show negative signs, turning them into soulless monsters. Few cats escape and hide. We are those cats. We are Soldiers!

Not Again... (Chapter 17)

— Lyna's P.O.V. —

Ina and I were out in the city doing our daily routines, when all of a sudden I heard those horrible monster-cat things barking. I glanced around and spotted three humans running towards us. I gave Ina a wild glance before taking off. She followed me immediately. I ran as fast as I could, but they still caught up with us. Suddenly one of their monsters grabbed me by my scruff and started to drag me towards the humans. Why isn't it killing me?! The other one tried to grab Ina but she struck it with her lightning. It let out a screech and crashed to the ground, dead.

"I'll go get help!" Ina yowled. She began running towards camp. The remaining monster dropped me at the feet of the humans. One slammed his foot down on my tail so I couldn't run. I had never understood their strange language but I knew what they were saying. They're going to experiment on me again! I started struggling and frantically clawing at the human's skin. He grunted and bent down to pick me up. I started biting the human's hand but he tightened his grip and I gasped for air. We had reached the lab after many minutes of struggling. I kept calling out for help since I knew Tay's group of cats were patrolling right now. If they could hear me, I knew Tay wouldn't stop to help me.

As we entered the Lab, the humans tossed me into an empty cage just like last time. But this time, Instead of the same shot that I was given before, they gave me a different one. This one had green and black liquid in it. They then injected the shot into my shoulder. I expected to gain powers but I didn't. I started changing forms. Was I becoming a monster? Or was I just changing?

Before I knew it, my white and grey pelt had faded into black. I felt my blue eyes change aswell. I felt something sprout out of my back.. A shocking realization took over me. I was growing wings. 'H-how is this happening?' I asked myself before stopping to cough up blood from the pain. By then, I knew that my whole pelt—from my paws and claws to the tip of my ears and tail—was solid black. When the transformation had finished, I collapsed onto the cold ground, the searing pain leaving my body. My new wings were folded against my back and my breathing was slow and ragged.

'N-no one will recognize me,' I thought as my breath started picking up again out of panic, 'Ina, Tay, Kuturo, and everyone else won't notice that I'm Lyna.' I then decided to sleep in the Lab for the night, just so my energy could refill and so my body could adjust to the new changes it had just been through. Tomorrow I will escape and go back to the camp. I'll have to explain who I am to everyone though. 'I hope everyone will understand that I'm still the same old Lyna.' I thought as I sleep slowly took me over.
