This School is Not Normal

Elizabeth Sanders, 12 years old, is recruited into a top-secret academy that's only for people with elemental powers. Before that happened, she was a normal girl - kind, shy, and sweet. But she was also friendless. As she meets several new friends at the academy, all the recruits must face extreme tests that will determine whether or not they'll stay in the school.

Chapter 1.

New Recruit

It all happened so suddenly. One minute, I was doodling anime figures in my notebook, and the next - I'm doing a faceplant in the grass. With wobbly legs, I stand up and brush myself off.
Kids all around me are kicking soccer balls, swimming, climbing, anything a normal kid will do. I turn around and see a large, brick building with a sign on it that says "Elemental Academy."
"Hi! What's your name? I'm Trixie. Nice to meet you! I like to climb mountains and do dangerous things. What do you like to do? My element is air. What's yours?"
I whirl around to see a tall girl with purple hair standing in front of me. She has a blue tank-top and blue eyes.
"Uh..." I stammer. What does she mean, element? "I'm... I'm Elizabeth. But I really should be getting home now... you see, there's an anime character I need to finish drawing-" Before I can finish, something cold hits me in the side of the head. I fall to the side.
"Oops! Sorry!" I stand up and see a spiky-haired boy sheepishly smiling. "I really need to work on my aim."
"What WAS that?" I cry, picking up what appears to be a chunk of ice.
The boy extends his arm, as if to shove me, but instead, another piece of ice hits me in the shoulder. "Stop it!" I yell. "What- what are you doing? How can you do that? I- I mean-"
Beaming, the boy bows. "I'm Carl. Nice to meet you." he says. "My element is ice. What is your element?"
I let out a roar in frustration. "Why does everyone keep talking about elements?" I scream.
Someone clears their throat. I turn around to see a white-haired man smiling at me. "Hello, Elizabeth. I see you've met Trixie and Carl. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kyle, the supervisor here at elemental academy-"
"If someone mentions 'elements' one more time," I pant, "I will go insane."
Kyle looks confused. "Matt?" he yells, face pointed upwards. "Did you remove her memory?"
I slowly look up and scream. There, hovering far above me, is a giant clock - with eyes! And a mouth! Its minute hand clicks.
"Nope," it says, in a low voice.
Kyle frowns at me. "Well, we will just have to teach you. That's all."
"Teach me what?"
Grunting, Kyle pushes me towards a deep canyon. At the bottom are thousands of spikes. Kyle sighs. "Use your powers." he says before pushing me over the edge.

However, you may want to know that up where it said "If someone mentions "elements" one more time," the "elements" should be surrounded by single quotes. It would be "If someone mentions 'elements' one more time." Get it?
