Regretting The Chances

This is a story I have on the app Watt.pad, and I decided to post it onto this too. One question, though... Why is Watt.pad a forbidden word? Is it because it's another website? But wait! Twitter is not blocked! Facebook isn't either! Ah well. Here is my story, I hope you enjoy it!

Chapter 14.

Chapter 14 Jobs

<<<Ashley's P.O.V.>>>
I walked into McDonald's. Yes, that was where I was going to work. It paid pretty well, and they'd hire pretty much anybody as long as you did what they told you to. I sat through the job interview, rolling my eyes and tuning out for pretty much the whole thing. They let me know I'd be scrubbing toilets and that type of shit. I rolled my eyes. Yeah right. I'd just have some other chic do it.
Surprisingly, I was hired right away. They announced that they were short on workers and that my help would be needed. I was set to many tasks. Sweeping, toilet scrubbing, mopping, etc. And when they told me to scrub they woman's bathroom... I made this chic Alexis do it instead. So far, McDonald's sucked. Well, it was actually okay, as long as I wasn't toilet scrubbing. At least I was making money. I wondered briefly how AJ was doing at her job interview...

I walked up to the pound area. I opened the door and stepped inside. I could hear puppies barking and kittens mewing, and the smell of warm, furry bodies and sanitizer drifted through the room.
"Hi, may I help you?" A girl asked, pushing back her blond hair. I looked at her, startled. I hadn't known anyone else was in the room.
"Uh, yeah... Um, are you hiring? Cuz I really like puppies and animals and...yeah..."
She laughed lightly. "Of course we're hiring!" She said. Her voice had a musical sound to it. I kinda liked it. "By the way, my name's Julia. What's yours?"
"AJ. AJ Riddle." I looked quickly at her to see if she was disturbed by my name. A lot of people had made fun of my name in the past, so it was only logical that she would...
Julia only smiled. "Nice name. Here, you can fill out this form. I'll tell Rita that you're here." With that, she handed me a pen and paper and left, no questions asked. I stared at the three whole pages of tiny typing I had to read, answer, and read again. I sighed. Hopefully Ashley was getting off much better than I was.

(Over at McDonald's, Ashley was thinking the exact same thing.)
"Eww..." I growled, washing a dirty tray. I slightly gagged as I touched some ketchup. I was totally quitting this job. But what other job would I get? Ugh... Life.
My manager came in and asked to speak with me. Obviously, I said yes. But I really wanted to tell her, fvck off bitch! I just washed tons of dirty trays and I'm sick and tired of it!
"Ashley, we heard you were bullying other employees, making them do the toilets, instead of you."
"Yes. I did." I said angrily. "And I hate this job. Your an obese bitch and I quit. Stop eating McDonald's. Later, bitch!" I stood up abruptly and left her, with her mouth hanging open. Hope you swallow some flies. I grumbled bitterly.
I walked down the road, looking left and right. What other job would I get? Ugh... I didn't know. I'd talk to AJ at home. She had to understand! She was my sister. She couldn't get mad... Could she?

<<<AJ's P.O.V.>>>

"You what!?" I thundered. "You quit your job!?"
"Yes. I did. And if you have a problem with it, get out and get your own apartment."
"Excuse me? I'm the one who will currently be paying! You'd better get your ass out and get a job. Otherwise, you're leaving!"
"Ugh, AJ, it's only for a little while! I'll find a job! Just not now! Okay?"
"No! I'm not going to take care of you forever! This is just like freakin middle school! Again!"
"Hey, listen." She said, softening her voice. "I'll get a job. Promise. Just not now."
"When? When will you go and help me make a living?" I demanded.
"I... I don't know. But I will. Okay?"
"One week. One week and if by then you don't have a job, I'm leaving. You can face the freaking mad manager. All by yourself."
"Fine! One week! I'll get a job in one week! There! Happy?" She threw her hands up in the air in a surrendering gesture.
I grunted. "Whatever." And stomped out the door into the crisp autumn air. I walked down the sidewalk and heaved a great sigh. I sat underneath a tree in the park. The leaves drifted down and formed a pile around me. I played with the leaves gently. Why was life so hard? Why couldn't Ashley just get a freakin job and help me? I couldn't make it on my own! I was newly employed, and they didn't pay much for that. I crushed the leaf in my grip. How would we make it? If we couldn't even work together, how would we survive the cold, winter months, when we would need to pay for heat, food, gas, and probably a car. For me, of course. If she didn't have a job, she didn't need a car. So there.
I buried my face in my hands and cried. We had fights before, sure. But right now life was so hard... We just didn't need family problems on top of that. I cried for a while. How long, I don't know. All I know is that at some point, someone sat down beside me, and wrapped their arms around my waist. I leaned into the figure. When I had dried my tears, I looked up into the face and saw who was sitting next to me. It was...
