Chapter 3.

The Fate of the Camp

The week flew by quickly. Every morning Percy went down to the arena and practiced his parries, blocks and sword- handling. He still knew it wouldn't be enough to beat Kronos. As the group of seven stood just outside the camp, Percy could see Kronos and his army marching over the hill in the distance. Percy's legs felt like jelly and his hands were shaking uncontrollably. His hands were sweaty, causing the sword to slip out of his grip. Kronos and his army were now standing in front of the seven. He shook hands with Clarisse and then yelled, "CHARGE". The armies clashed together. A lot of swords flew and bodies dropped. Slowly blood trickled the once green grass.
Clarisse and Percy took on Kronos. Slashing and jabbing at his red, orange crusty skin. Clarisse screamed and leapt at Kronos. She jumped on his back and started stabbing him. He yelped, throwing her into a nearby oak tree. Percy looked around for a way to take Kronos by surprise. He saw a tree with a few branches that would be perfect foot and hand holds. He leapt off the ground and sailed towards the first branch. He somersaulted off it and into Kronos's face. He stabbed his sword into Kronos's left eye and dragged it down his face, causing it to tear a gigantic gash down his body. Kronos yelled and then disintegrated into tiny ash like pieces. They then blew away in the wind. Since Kronos was gone, his army couldn't continue so they disintegrated as well. All was quiet.
"Percy", someone screamed. Percy looked behind him and saw Annabeth lying on the ground clutching a dagger in her stomach. Percy ran over and to her aid. He started carrying her to the safety of the camp. She was crying in agony. Percy tried to calm her. Travis and Connor were in the infirmary tending to the injured. When they saw Annabeth they rushed over and started mending her. They motioned for Percy to leave and he obeyed. Percy found Grover in the forest cleaning up from the battle. Blood was everywhere and it had stained the grass.
That night Annabeth was no where to be seen.
"She must still be in the infirmary", Grover said.
Four days later Annabeth was out of the hospital and back to her normal self. Percy, Grover and Annabeth sat by the lake watching the sunset. It cast beautiful orange shadows across the water and the warm glow penetrated their skin.
"Isn't it beautiful", Annabeth said. Percy gazed over at Annabeth, looking stunning in the glow of the sunset.
"Yes, yes it is", Percy said and they sat in silence embracing the warmth of the sun's rays.
