Chapter 3.

The Escape

Peach ran back to the cave, seeing Toad, Mario and Luigi still there, safe and A-okay. Peach walked inside.
"Where's Kong?" asked Peach.

"Still gone, Peach. Still gone," said Toad.

"Oh no..." said Peach.

Luigi started wincing in pain again. But it wasn't as loud, because the wound was ever so slowly starting to heal.
"Here you go, Luigi" said Peach as she wrapped the cloth around his arm.

Luigi screamed loudly as the cloth rubbed against the wound. The cavemen heard the loud noise.
"Well boys, it seems we have another party to attend to," said Pluto laughing evilly.

Pluto and his children started marching toward the cave, and away from an abandoned outhouse in the clearing. As they walked away, small lines of blood came from the outhouse onto the sand as Kong laid in the inside of the outhouse wincing and moaning in pain. Eventually, Kong let out one last moan. Kong was dead.
Peach started to hear the cavemen rushing toward the cave.
"Oh gosh, the cavemen heard your scream. RUN!" yelled Peach.

"Oh..." said Luigi.

Toad and Peach ran out of the cave screaming.
"Come on Luigi, I'll carry you through," said Mario.

"Okay," said Luigi.

Mario grabbed Luigi's hand and ran out the cave with him, following Peach and Toad's path. They eventually came upon an underground system with stairs and everything. Luigi and Mario caught up with Peach and Toad. Mario struggled to breathe, out of breath.
"Okay, it looks like there's some sort of system down here! It's our only chance to hide! Come on, guys!" said Peach.

Peach walked down the stairs.
"It's fine down here! Come on!" yelled Peach from below.

Mario sighed and he and Luigi went down the stairs to Peach.
"Come on, Toad! You can do it!" yelled Peach.

Toad gulped.
"TOAD!" yelled Mario.

"I'm too scared, guys. This is a horrible idea!" yelled Toad.

"Toad, we're all in this together. A bunch of mutant cannibals are chasing us, Kong's probably dead, and we have almost no way out! Now, come on!" yelled Mario.

"Oh...okay..." said Toad.

Just as Toad took a step, Pluto and his children caught up to the gang and grabbed Toad. Toad screamed as he was dragged by Pluto.
"TOAD!!!!!!" yelled Peach.

Toad screamed as he was eaten alive by the cannibalistic cavemen. When the cannibals were done, all that was left was Toad's skeleton bleeding out and a mushroom hat. Peach whimpered. One of Pluto's children looked at the gang.
"Run," said Mario.

Mario, Luigi, and Peach all ran away from the cavemen. One of Pluto's children spotted the gang and told Pluto.
"Time to go hunting, boys," said Pluto laughing.

Mario, Luigi and Peach kept running through the system and eventually got to a room. They all got into the room and locked the door, finally taking a breath, panting hard.
"I think we lost 'em," said Peach.

A suspicious silence fell over the room.
"Did anyone notice how silent it just got?" asked Mario.

Mario gulped and took some steps forward to the door. His heart beating like a race horse. Eventually, he put his ear up to the door and listened. A hand burst out the door and scratched Mario's ear really badly. Mario screamed as his ear bled.
The bloodthirsty cannibals started ripping up the door like Jack Torrance in the Shining. Peach screamed as one of the boy's heads crashed through the door laughing with blood all over his mouth.
Peach continued to scream. Mario grabbed Luigi again and starting running even more with Peach. The cavemen eventually crashed through the door and kept on chasing them. Peach, Mario, and Luigi all ran up back to the dessert where the exit is.
"Guys! I see road!" said Luigi.

"Oh my gosh, I see it too!" said Peach.

They all saw the road and kept on running as they heard the mumbles of the cannibalistic family. Eventually what was left of the gang reached the road.
"Come on guys, we gotta get on a car!" said Peach.

They heard the mumbles of the cavemen get closer and closer.
"There they are, boys! Let's eat!" said Pluto.

Peach screamed.
"We gotta get on one of these @#$%*& cars!" yelled Mario.

The gang saw a truck coming by, so Peach got onto the car as the traffic light turned red.
"Come on Mario! Come on Luigi!" yelled Peach.

Luigi leaped onto the car with Peach.
"Give me your hand Mario!" yelled Luigi.

The cavemen had reached the gang. As Mario gave Luigi his hand, the cavemen bit onto Mario's left hand. Mario screamed as blood wet the dessert sand.
"MARIO! NO!!!!!!" yelled Luigi.

Luigi pulled Mario up, but there was a sacrifice. Mario's hand had been eaten by the cavemen. Mario whimpered as his hand bled out. Luigi gave Mario his old cloth for his wound, being that Luigi's wound had mostly healed.
The traffic light turned green, and the truck drove away, across the dessert.
"They're getting away!" yelled Pluto.

Pluto ran into the street with his cannibal family and the gang screamed as they got closer and closer. Eventually, some of the family was hit by trucks. Pluto and the rest got scared and ran. The gang sighed. The trip was over.
"We're never going on vacation again," said Peach.

"Well, at least we all made it out okay. And most of the family was killed," said Mario.

"Yeah. I hope that never happens to anyone else," said Luigi.

(Cut to later in history). A family goes on a road trip and runs out of gas. Only to find a gas station in the middle of nowhere. Pluto walks up to the family.
"You want to stay for dinner tonight?" asked Pluto.
