A New Friend

Mel felt tears as she walked to her first class. "Three months...how could my mom not tell me I'll be staying here for three months?" Mel thought as she walked to room 157. Mel walked into the room silently and accidentally interrupted the teacher, Mrs. Hastings, yelling at a boy. "Oh! Good timing...class we got a new student, her name is Melody." Mrs. Hastings looked over at Mel and said, "Right now we are learning about anatomy, we aren't that far along in the subject so that's good. Plus, your grades came from your old school and they are pretty high so keep it up." Mrs. Hastings took a look around the classroom and turned back to Mel and said, "I almost forgot, you got to have a partner. So I think I'm going to put you with Ryker." As she said the boy's name she pointed to him. He sat in the corner with a beanie on his head and with an annoyed look on his face.
Mel walked over to the boy and sat beside him. "So looks like we are science partners. I loved science at my old school but maybe you and me could be friends" Ryker slowly turned and looked at Mel up and down. Mel was just curious about what he was thinking. A few seconds after Ryker looked away the bell rung for lunch.

Mel had her tray full of food in her hands and looked around for anyone she might possibly know. Mel didn't know anyone except Ryker and he was sitting with his friends having a good time, laughing and talking. With no other option, Mel walked over to a table with no one and sat down. What Mel didn't know was that Ryker was watching her.
Ryker was sitting with some of friends James and Jordan, which are twins, and James' girlfriend Chesney. Ryker saw Mel sitting by herself so he got up and went and sat by her. All his friends thought it was weird that he chose the new girl over them. "What the- Why did he just sit with that girl?" Jordan said to James and Chesney who were holding hands. James replies, " Maybe he's in love." as he turns to Chesney and winks. Jordan rolls his eyes and says, "They just met. There's no way..."
Mel looks down and says, "You didn't have-" and before she could finish, Ryker said, "I know, but I wanted to." Mel looked over at Ryker and smiled.
