Chapter 2.

Mah Reasoning

So firstly, it's almost always the woman's fault she's pregnant when it comes to the ones that want an abortion. Less than 1% of abortions are for pregnancies that happen because of rape or incest. It doesn't matter if she uses birth control or the guy uses a condom or they do any other stuff that reduces pregnancy risks. She can get pregnant no matter what, unless she just doesn't have sex at all. The fact that almost all pregnancies that end in abortions are from consensual sex is appalling. Like...is America trying to make it so we don't have to face consequences for our actions? That's not how it works with anything else, honey. Sorry.

Secondly, sex exists so we can reproduce and make more people. Destroying the thing produced from a man and a woman having sex is literally saying they had sex for the hell of it, which is stupid to me. Maybe it's because I've never had sex so I don't get why people seem to like it so much. But you know what? I'm only seventeen and I don't think I'm ready, plus I don't have anyone I'd wanna have a kid with.

Third: The baby has the potential to become literally any kind of person. It could end up being the one to cure all cancers, or colonize Mars, or end discrimination once and for all. Humanity could really use that kind of person. Especially for that last one. Sure, you could say it could become the next Hitler, but its view on the world and all that stuff depends on how it grows up and perceives other people. So what if it's a risk? Having sex itself is a risk. Going to work every day is a risk. Pretty much everything's a risk.

And finally, there's always adoption. Whenever people debate over whether abortion should be a thing or not, people always bring up the point that the woman might not want to bear the burden of raising a child, or that she might not have the resources to do so. But...isn't that what adoption's for? If you don't want a kid, you don't have to keep it. But you don't have to remove that cell from your body, you can just put it up for adoption after it's born.

Now for the stuff that doesn't fit into these: Rape. Otherwise known as nonconsensual sex. I think you should only be legally allowed to get an abortion if you were raped, or something similar. I've never been raped, and I've never met anyone who's told me they have been, but I know it's a pretty traumatic experience. Apparently victims often don't want to speak to anyone about it, and often have trouble finding help when pregnant. You wanna know why I think abortion should be legal for them? It's not their fault they're pregnant. I still wouldn't advise them to get one, but I think they should have that option. They never asked to have a baby and they probably weren't planning on having one for some time. It's kinda like framing someone for a crime, I think. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and someone took advantage of that.

Before I end this thing, I'm just gonna say that I'm still young. I don't know everything about the world. I'm still learning. Hell, I'm not even out of high school yet. But this is all my thoughts and shit on abortion, at 2:53 PM on February 23, 2016, in my bedroom in Nevada, United States of America, a point when I'm a virgin who still has a lot to learn about stuff. It might change when/if the time comes for me to have a baby and the circumstances that come with it. Peace.
