How aging happens

Have you ever wonder why we age? It's because our chromosomes have something magical on the tips, called telomeres, that causes us to age. The telomeres from our X-chromosomes grow shorter as they split constantly over the years. If we can prevent them from becoming shorter, we would stay young longer and we would be able to add years to our lifespans. This has been done to rats in science labs.
The scientists who did a special experiment on the rats helped them live longer. The rats with the special treatment stayed young and lived longer than the rats without the treatment.
That's what I've learned about aging, because I was curious, too. The longer the telomeres, the longer we can live and vice versa. With long telomeres, we would be able to maintain our youth longer. Right now, scientists are trying to figure out how to prevent early aging. They're also trying to help living beings expand their lifespan. Perhaps in a few decades, people will be able to help increase their lifespan and stay young longer when scientists successfully solve the aging problem.
