Emma and the Story of her Life (1)

Friday, 28th Feb.

Chapter 1

The lunch bell rings. I just need to show Frances one more thing to do to an origami pencil case. When that's done, I grab my lunch bag and go sit with my two best friends; Leanna and Zara.

Zara has sushi and Leanna has pizza. At first I thought it was pizza day or something! You may have read my friend Petra's story, and it says my name in it. And my bffs. I always have the tiniest lunches EVER, and that's one of the three reasons why I am so skinny. The second is I am REALLY picky, and the third is that I have a fast metabolism. So, I slowly eat my food-which consists of yogurt, a cheese string, and a cookie- and then finally the bell rings.

Me, Zara and Leanna all go to basketball practice at the second recess of the day on Fridays. But Zara is not happy that the bell rang, because she is eating oranges and they are full of seeds, so it takes a long time to eat them. But me and Leanna see her come into the gym not long after we did, so we realize she must have saved them for later.

Our teacher, Mrs. Bringtom, is the basketball coach.

We have to bounce a basketball around the gym in our right hand, then our left. Right hand, then left. We then practice guarding the ball from the student helpers up from middle school. After that, we go in groups of three (naturally me, Zara and Leanna go together) and go to basketball hoops. Here we have to do a 2 on 1 drill, where one of us has the ball (offence), one is trying to get it(defence), and the other(offence) is trying to help the other offence score. Then, all of us practice guarding, and then we have a scrimmage. After 6 minutesof playing, the bell rings.

Up in our class, we have to read in French, but since we were doing poetry, we are allowed also to read poetry in English. So that is what I do, since there are no good French books. After reading, we have A.P.Q. Or in English, D.P.A.(Daily physical activity. It's not gym though). After that, we have music. But today we are having a fire drill, so we have to go outside with the music teacher, Mrs. Ranch, and wait for a while. We come back in and play a short game after. Then our teacher comes to get us and we go back upstairs.

When we get upstairs,we have Art. We sit in groups of tables, so this Art we make up names for the tables for half of it, and the other half is working on our poetry books. Then the end of the school day comes, and when the bell rings to go home, me and Leanna have to go straight away to our jazz dance class. At dance class we are usually the first ones there. But today, one of our fellow dancemates Makena is there already.

We go upstairs and I see that Makena has a donut. I want the donut. I want. The. Donut. But obviously I can't just eat her donut, so I just don't. Soon, class starts and our teacher Lizzie calls us in. And if you are wondering, the class is not just made up of me, Leanna and Makena. It also consists of Rhonda, Me, Leanna, Makena, Emily, Ally, Nadia, her friend Cally, Miranda, her older sister Elise, the helpers, and many more.

We are very focused on the actual dance this class, so we do the dance right away. After doing it a couple of times, we add on to it. Then we practice more and more, and class is over.
