If space is infinite, why is it ever expanding?

It's not infinite. Simply, it is constantly expanding at an increasing rate. This is evident by the red shift of light from all directions, meaning everything in the universe is getting further apart. It's a common misconception. To sum it up, no. But, it's so vast that there is no physical way to wrap your mind around it. So, it's so big to even imagine.
