It most likely fits because the flute case is empty. It never said there was a flute in the case. Or the case is really for the guitar but the flute fits in the guitar case. OR he has a mini guitar. If I get this wrong then you are stupid for not giving any BIG clues. (Do not judge me for being a My Little Pony lover. Just deal with it.)
