Not paid for a bank holiday worked

I worked a bank holiday in April of last year the offer was double time and a day in lieu. I forgot to clock in or out but was recorded on the register as in and the staff I worked with have told the manager I was in but he says its too late to claim the days pay back as it was 9monts ago and I should of checked my wages then. What should I do?
