I am in the middle on this one. If you do declaw a cat, the cat will not hurt any small children in the house or ruin any furniture. If you do not declaw a cat, the cat can use its claws as defense in case of an intruder. Cats only use their claws if they feel threatened. I had my cat declawed.

Declawing also sometimes causes pain that never goes away for the cats and always limits their mobility. I think scratching a couple peices of furniture is a better and more responsible negitive thing for a cat owner to ensure rather then the pain of their cats.

Declawing is very harmful to a cat. It can result in perminit pain in the paws. The human equivalent to declawing would be if the tips of your fingers were to be cut off at the first knuckle. Declawing leaves cats hurt and defenseless. I wish cat owners would consider this before getting their cats declawed, but humans tend to have no regard for what is best See More▼
