The curtains would have been only on those four poster beds in the Gryffindor bedrooms. If you remember from Chamber of Secrets, each Common Room has a different design, and therefore can not have the same beds. It wouldn't match the design around, would it?

Really? I don't believe that.
In the fourth film, when Dumbledore visits Harry in the Gryffindor Common Room, he highlights that he never liked the curtains in the bed, and tried to burn them down while he was there as a student. Proof that Dumbledore was a Gryffindor.
