Can i just point out if someone has Mary Sue traits, it doesn't matter if they hate it or not it still makes them a Mary- Sue.
Like having all the guys like you, what if the OC hates that? Still makes them be like a Mary Sue.
Bad past? May traumatize them. Still a Mary Sue.

@Parabolic A Mary Sue tends to be OP and still have a tragic past.
Asriel doesn't count- he's just pure corruption. Technically, yes, he is, however, he was able to tone it down well enough to where it doesn't count.

Well they can still have a bad past and not be Mary sue, I mean look at asriel from undertale he is the most tragic Canon character I've ever heard of and he isn't a mary sue
