donovan has a severe case of necrophobia, so when his best friend was killed on a trip to the safari, he was afraid he'd die too
so he struck up a deal with the big man underground himself and he was granted immortality
but he watched as his friends, pets, friends, etc etc died and he was driven into a state of depression and sadness
he attempted suicide several times, and even begged Satan to let him die but he couldn't
he is 188 years old and counting but still looks like a normal 25 y/o (the age he was when he sold his soul :^) )
